Ater (Ay´tuhr)

1 A family group (“descendants of Ater”) who returned with Zerubbabel from the Babylonian captivity (Ezra 2:16). 2 A family group of gatekeepers who also returned (Ezra 2:42). 3 A member of the postexilic community who signed the covenant to keep the law (Neh 10:17); he could be associated with either of the families identified above.

16Of Ater, namely of Hezekiah, ninety-eight.

42The descendants of the gatekeepers: of Shallum, of Ater, of Talmon, of Akkub, of Hatita, and of Shobai, in all one hundred thirty-nine.
