Naphtali

Naphtali (Naf´tuh-li)

Second son of Jacob and Bilhah (Gen 30:7-8) and eponymous ancestor of the Israelite tribe of that name. Naphtali’s territory was bounded on the west by Asher, on the south by Zebulun and Issachar, and on the east by the river Jordan and the Sea of Galilee. Naphtali figures in numerous biblical narratives (Judg 4:6-10; Judg 12-16:6; Judg 6:35; Judg 7:23; 1Kgs 7:13-47; 1Kgs 15:16-20; 2Kgs 15:29). Naphtali is also mentioned in OT poetry (Gen 49:21; Deut 33:23; Judg 5:18).
