Ahasuerus (Uh-has´yoo-air´uhs)

Persian king generally identified as Xerxes I (485–464 BCE) and described in the book of Esther as ruling from India to Ethiopia (Esth 1:1). He selects the Jewish Esther to be his wife and is influenced by her to offer rulings favorable to the Jews.
