Excavations for the extracting of mineral ores. (Job 28:1-11) has the most detailed description of mining in the Bible, though the subject of interest there is the inaccessibility of wisdom. In (Deut 8:9) the verb used for the mining of copper is the same word used elsewhere for digging a cistern or well. The term for a miner is simply “digger.”
