Spring Hill Palace

Tell es-Sultan/Jericho: general view of the Early Bronze III (2700–2350 B.C.E.) palace on the Spring Hill, from the east. This site is the lowest (258 meters below sea level) and the oldest town on earth. It grew up around a perennial spring, Ain es-Sultan. So far, 23 layers of ancient civilizations have been uncovered at the site. In the background is the Mount of Temptations.


Name given to the unknown desert location where Jesus was tempted by the devil in Matt 4:8.
