Lazarus


Laz´uh-ruhs

1 A character in a parable told by Jesus in (Luke 16:19-31). Lazarus dies a poor man and is carried by angels to Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man dies and is tormented in Hades. 2 A friend of Jesus who dies and is then raised by Jesus (John 11). Lazarus is the brother of Mary and Martha of Bethany, a village near Jerusalem (John 11:1-2; Luke 10:38-42).
