Pee´or; Heb., “opening”

A mountain in Moab to which Balak took Balaam (Num 23:28). It was apparently the site of a shrine to Baal (Num 25:3; Num 25:5) with which Israelites were involved, to their subsequent detriment (Num 25:18; Josh 22:17; Ps 106:28).
